A.P. Traders

Our small business, A.P. Traders, is located at B-1, Kiran Garden in the Uttam Nagar area. It’s a bit different from the big industrial estates because we are right in the middle of a residential neighborhood. We use the ground floor of the building for our storage and a tiny office space. It’s usually quite crowded in here with boxes of whatever stock we have at the moment. We trade in various goods, so the inventory changes quite often. One week we might have stacks of plastic buckets and the next it’s all stationery or small kitchen items. Dealing with the traffic in Uttam Nagar is one of the biggest challenges we face every day. Getting a delivery van to the door without blocking the whole street is a real struggle. I spend most of my time at the desk on the phone or working on the accounts. It’s just me and a couple of helpers who handle the lifting and the packing. We don't have a storefront with big windows; it’s more of a place where we manage the logistics of moving goods from one place to another. We know most of the people on the street and we often stop to chat with the neighbors during our tea breaks. It’s not a fancy corporate job, but it keeps us busy and we like being part of the local community. We just take things one day at a time and try to keep the business going.
