Mapari Organic Farmers Producer Company is located in the Dhanora Mapari area, which is part of Washim. We are over here in the village, and you can usually find us around Pandurang Ananda Mapari’s place. We are just a group of local farmers who decided to team up. Farming on your own is getting harder these days with the prices of everything going up, so we figured working together was the way to go for everyone. We focus on organic farming because that’s how our fathers and grandfathers did it before all the chemical stuff became popular. It takes more work to do it this way, and sometimes the yields aren't as huge as the big commercial farms, but the soil stays healthy and that matters to us. In Dhanora Mapari, the weather can be a bit unpredictable, so we spend a lot of time talking about the rain and when to plant our crops. We handle everything from the seeds to the final harvest ourselves as a team. It’s not a fancy operation by any means. Most of our meetings happen sitting under a tree or in one of our homes over tea. We just want to make sure the farmers here get a fair deal for the hard work they put in every day. If you’re ever passing through Washim and head towards Dhanora, you’ll see our fields. We are just regular people trying to keep the old ways of farming alive while making sure our families have what they need to survive.
