If you are looking for us, we are located right near the veterinary hospital in Washim, specifically at Sakharam Gawande’s place. We are a small group of farmers who decided to try our hand at the organic side of things. It’s not the easiest way to farm, especially when you are used to the old ways, but we thought it was worth a shot for the long run. Our group is called Mahale'S Organic Gold Farmer Producer Company Limited, but really we are just a bunch of neighbors trying to improve our land. The office is just a room with some basic furniture where we sit and talk about the compost or which organic seeds we should buy for the next season. It gets pretty dusty around here and the noise from the hospital nearby is always there, but we don't mind much. We spend most of our time out in the dirt anyway, checking the plants and making sure things are growing like they should without all those heavy chemicals. It takes more patience and sometimes the yield isn't as big as the traditional way, but the soil feels better this way. We handle the selling part together so we don't get pushed around by the big buyers. It’s just us trying to make a decent living while taking care of the earth. We don't have any big secrets or fancy marketing, just hard work and a lot of learning as we go. It's about the dirt under our nails and the food we grow for our people.
