Shankar Pappad Works is a small family-run thing we have going on at H. No -2-2-93/3 in Ganeshnagar. We’ve been making pappads here in Naimnagar for quite a while now. It’s a very hands-on process that starts early in the morning when we get the dough ready. Our house is often filled with the smell of spices and the sound of work. We use the space we have to dry the pappads, so you might see them laid out whenever the sun is shining. It’s not a big factory with robots; it’s just us and a few local workers doing everything by hand. We take a lot of pride in the way we mix the flour and the black pepper. It’s a messy job sometimes, and our hands are always dusty with flour by the end of the day. We sell to the local shops and sometimes directly to neighbors who stop by the gate. We don't have fancy packaging or a website. People just know us for the taste and the fact that we’ve been here forever. Sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate and the drying takes longer, which slows everything down, but that’s just part of the food business. We aren't looking to become a giant brand. We just want to keep making good pappads that people enjoy having with their meals. It’s a simple life and we like it that way.
