Prakash Bricks

Prakash Bricks is based out of 687, Ramayampet. It is a straightforward operation we have running here. The yard is basically my second home because I am here more than I am at my own house. We deal with a lot of mud and fire every single day. Ramayampet is a decent place to work, and we have a good relationship with the neighbors, even if we do create a bit of smoke once in a while. The bricks are stacked high in long rows, and we have to be careful how we move them so they don't chip or break. It is a lot of lifting. Some days my back really feels it, but you get used to the rhythm after a few years. We use local clay when we can get it. The color of the bricks changes a bit depending on the soil we get that month. We don't use any fancy marketing or have a big sign. Most people just know to come to number 687 if they need bricks for a new shed or a house wall. When the monsoon hits, things get a bit messy and the ground turns into a swamp. We usually spend that time repairing the sheds or checking the tools. It’s not a glamorous job, but it is honest work and it feels good to see a finished stack ready to go out. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
