Laxmi Ganapathi Rice & Oil Traders

Our shop is at 98 Balasamudram Road in Hanamkonda. We handle a lot of rice and cooking oil, so the place always smells a bit like a warehouse. There are stacks of bags everywhere, and sometimes it feels like there is hardly any room to move around between the piles. Hanamkonda is a busy area, and Balasamudram Road usually has a lot of scooters and carts going past our front door. We spend a lot of our time measuring out portions or helping people carry heavy cans of oil to their vehicles. It is physical work, and by the end of the day, my back usually feels it. We aren't a big supermarket or anything like that. We just have the basics that people need for their kitchens. Sometimes the oil tins leak a little, so we have to be careful about keeping the floor from getting slippery. We use some sawdust to soak it up when that happens. It is not a glamorous job, but it is what we do. We know most of the people who come into Laxmi Ganapathi Rice & Oil Traders by their first names because they have been buying from us for years. They come in, ask for their usual amount, we settle the bill, and they go on their way. It is a simple routine that repeats every day except for the occasional holiday when we close up for a bit.
