Our group is based out of No.1-123 in Gondolu Village & Post, where we handle things for Addatheegala Somalamma Cashew Nut Farmer Producer Company Limited. If you come out to this part of the village, you will see a lot of cashew trees because that is what most people here grow to get by. We set up this company so we could collect our nuts in one place and not have to deal with so many different middle people coming through. The building at No.1-123 is just a simple spot where we weigh the bags and keep the ledger. It gets very busy during the picking months, and the yard is usually full of people sorting through the crop. It’s dusty work and can be quite loud when everyone is talking at once, but it’s how we live. We don’t have fancy uniforms or big signs, just the work itself. Most of us have lived in Gondolu all our lives, so we know each other well. Sometimes the rain messes up the drying process, and we all have to scramble to cover the cashews. It’s a lot of manual labor, but doing it together makes it a bit better. We aren't trying to be some big corporate entity; we are just a group of local farmers trying to make sure our families have enough. The office is often a bit messy with paperwork, but we know where everything is.
