Jagadha Modern Rice Mill

You can find Jagadha Modern Rice Mill at 15, Otthavaadai Street. We are tucked away in Chinaiyyangulam. Even though the name says modern, we still do a lot of things the old way. We have the big sorters and the polishers, but we still check the grains by hand quite often. The street outside is narrow, so it is a struggle when the trucks try to turn around. We often have to help guide them so they do not hit the walls. Inside, the noise is constant. It is a rhythmic sound that you stop hearing after an hour. We have piles of sacks everywhere, and the cat likes to sleep on the ones in the corner. My family has lived nearby for a long time, so we know everyone who walks past. We do not do any big advertising or anything. We just open the doors and get to work. Sometimes the humidity makes the machines a bit finicky, but we know how to handle them. We spend our afternoons sitting on the wooden benches out front when the sun is too high. It is a dusty job, and our clothes are always covered in fine white powder. We just keep going because the community needs their rice. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from dawn to dusk. We just worry about the next load coming in.
