Dharmnath Enterprises

You can find us at Plot No. 16-20 in Chalpeth, right near the old Jain Temple in Virar(W). Dharmnath Enterprises is a place that’s always a bit busy because of where we are located. Being near the temple means there are always people walking around. Our shop has a lot of different things piled up, from bags of lime to hardware supplies. It’s a bit of a maze inside honestly. We have these old metal shelves that groan a little when we put new stock on them. I spend a lot of time walking back and forth between the front counter and the storage area in the back. The air usually smells like dust and maybe some old metal. We don’t have a computer system that does everything; we still use a big paper ledger to write down what we sell. It’s easier for us that way. Customers come in with lists of things their contractors told them to buy. Sometimes they don’t know exactly what they need, so we have to figure it out together by looking at the broken parts they brought in. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, so we keep the big shutters open to get a breeze. It’s a simple life. We close up when the temple bells start ringing later in the evening. We’ve been part of this street for years and we know the rhythms of the neighborhood. It’s just us doing our bit.
