Southern Steel Industries

You can find us at Plot Number 77 inside the Iron Complex in Bhavanipuram. Since we are in the middle of an iron complex, there is always the sound of metal clanging and trucks reversing nearby. Southern Steel Industries is basically just a big shed and an open yard where we keep all the heavy inventory. It is a bit of a rough-and-ready place, not the kind of office where you’d want to wear a nice suit. We usually have grease on our hands and dirt on our boots. Bhavanipuram is a busy hub for this kind of work, so we are surrounded by people doing the same thing as us. The yard gets pretty full, and sometimes it's a bit of a puzzle to move the older stock out of the way to reach the new stuff. We have a small office tucked in the corner where we keep the records, but mostly we are outside in the yard. The sun gets quite hot out there in the afternoon. We have been here long enough that we know most of the drivers and other shop owners in the complex. We don't use any fancy systems; we just write things down and make sure the deliveries go out on time. It's hard work, especially when the weather isn't great, but Southern Steel Industries has been part of this complex for years now. We just keep our heads down and do the work every day.
