Vidyabharati Primary School

Our primary school is situated in Chalukya Nagar, right in the Bijapur Ho area of Karnataka. It’s a residential neighborhood for the most part, so it’s a bit quieter than being right in the middle of the main market. The school is a simple building where we teach the younger kids. You can hear the sounds of children playing or reciting their lessons from the street if you’re walking by during the day. We don’t have a massive playground, but there’s enough room for the kids to run around a bit during their breaks. The classrooms are decorated with drawings and charts that the students have made over the weeks. It’s not a high-tech facility; we mostly use chalkboards and books. The teachers are mostly local women from the Bijapur area who have been with us for a long time. They know the families and the kids pretty well. Sometimes the rainy season makes things a bit messy around the entrance, but we just put down some mats and keep going. We don’t really do much in the way of promotion. Most of the parents just live nearby and want a school that’s close to home for their little ones. It’s a very grounded, everyday kind of place. We focus on the basics like reading and writing and making sure the kids are safe while they’re here. That’s just the way we’ve always done things in Chalukya Nagar.
