Shri Mahalaxmi Primary School

Shri Mahalaxmi Primary School is tucked away in Ibrahimpur, which is in the Vijayapura area. Specifically, we are located at Darbargalli Bijapur, Bijapur-Karnataka - 586109. This part of town is very traditional and has a lot of history. Our school is a small primary institution where we teach the local children. The streets around Ibrahimpur are narrow and often filled with people going about their daily business. We have a few classrooms and a small office space. Running a primary school in Bijapur means we are always busy with something, whether it is organizing the mid-day meals or getting the books ready for a new term. The building is an old one, typical of the Darbargalli area. It has thick walls that stay somewhat cool even when it gets hot outside in Karnataka. We don’t have a big marketing budget or anything; most of our students come because their families live just a few houses away. It is a community-centered place. The sounds of kids reciting their lessons can be heard from the street. We focus on the basics of reading and writing. Every day is pretty much the same routine of bells and lessons and lunch breaks. It is a humble place to work, but it serves a purpose for the families around here. We just try to keep things running smoothly for the kids in Vijayapura.
