Vimal Provision General Store

Our shop is Vimal Provision General Store. We are located at D249 on Lahartara Road. It’s a very busy area near the Lahartara Chowk in Varanasi. There is always noise from the traffic and the trains nearby. We have all sorts of things packed into our store. We sell loose spices, flour, different types of rice, and basic toiletries. The shelves go all the way to the ceiling. We have to use a wooden ladder to reach the top ones. It is a bit wobbly, but we are used to it. The floor is concrete and has some cracks, but it’s strong enough for the heavy sacks. We get a lot of travelers passing through because of the location. They usually want water or some biscuits. Then there are the local regulars who come for their weekly groceries. We have a small television in the corner that we keep on for the news or some cricket matches. It keeps us company during the slow hours in the afternoon. Varanasi is a place where people talk a lot, so there is always some conversation going on at the counter. We don't have any staff, it’s just me and my son. We take turns sitting at the shop. We try to keep everything in stock, but sometimes the suppliers are slow with their deliveries. It’s a simple business on a very busy road, and we just keep it going as best as we can. We've been here for many years now.
