Silk Root

Down here on Taktakpur Road, specifically at S-26/27-1 K3p Mirapur Basahi, things are always moving. We opened up Silk Root because we knew this area well. The building isn't much to look at from the outside, but it stays cool enough in the summer. We spend a lot of time just moving boxes and trying to find more space for everything that comes in. My desk is usually covered in scraps of paper and old pens that barely work. We don't really do the big sales pitches. If someone comes in, they usually know what they want, and we just show them what’s in the back. Sometimes the neighbors pop in to chat about the road construction or how the weather is changing. It makes the day go faster. We’ve got a small fan that rattles constantly, but you get used to the noise after a few weeks. It’s not a corporate office with clean desks and silent hallways. It’s loud, a bit messy, and very real. Most of the work is just checking orders and making sure the inventory matches the books, which takes longer than you’d think. By five or six, we’re usually tired and ready to head home, but there’s always one last thing to fix or one more box to tape up. It’s just how it goes here in Mirapur Basahi, keeping busy day in and day out.
