Siya Ram Store

Siya Ram Store is located right in Kabir Chaura, Varanasi. It is a busy spot on Kabir Road. The shop has been here through many seasons and the building shows its age a bit. We keep basic groceries, snacks for kids, and the usual household things people ask for. Varanasi is always loud and full of life, and our street is no different. We open up early because the temple goers often need small things on their way. The ceiling fan makes a clicking sound when it’s on high, but it keeps the air moving during those humid months. We have stacks of rice bags near the entrance which sometimes get in the way of people coming in. There is no big sign, just the name over the door. Sometimes the cows block the road right in front of us, making it hard for the supply truck to park. We deal with many regular families who have lived in this part of Varanasi for generations. It is a small business and we handle everything ourselves, from cleaning the jars to counting the change. We don't do much fancy stuff here. It is just about keeping the shelves filled with tea, sugar, and spices. The stone floor stays cool even when it is hot outside. We spend most of our time chatting with people who come in for a single matchbox or a kilo of flour.
