Shri Ashok Bhandar

You can find us on Mahaveer Mandir Road in the Orderly Bazar area of Varanasi. Being so close to the Mahaveer Mandir means there is always a crowd of people and the sound of bells and traffic outside. Our shop is called Shri Ashok Bhandar and we have been serving the people around here for quite some time now. We sell a lot of stuff for the kitchen like different kinds of grains and spices that we weigh out on the scale. The air always smells a bit like incense and old wood in here. It is a busy spot because Orderly Bazar is a main place for people to do their shopping and it stays noisy from morning until the night. We have to be careful when moving the stock around because the shop is narrow and there are always people standing at the front. Sometimes we run out of space for the big sacks of wheat and have to keep them in the small room at the back. It is hard work staying on your feet all day and dealing with so many different people but it is what we do. We don't have any fancy signs just the name of the shop above the door and the goods piled up for everyone to see. Varanasi is a place that never really sleeps and our store feels like a small part of that constant movement especially with the temple devotees passing by every few minutes.
