Shiv Shiva Departmental Store

Shiv Shiva Departmental Store is located on Ramnagar Road in the Samne Ghat area of Varanasi. We are situated near Jalsa Vatika, which is a well-known spot around here. This isn't just a tiny stall; we carry a lot of different items under one roof. We have groceries, some plastic ware, gift items, and general household goods. It’s a bit of a walk from the main river bank but many locals prefer coming here to avoid the tourist crowds. I manage the store with the help of two young men from the neighborhood. We are always busy unloading crates or helping customers find specific items. The shop gets very busy during the wedding season because of the nearby venues. People often run in at the last minute for things they forgot. Varanasi has a rhythm of its own and our store follows it. We have the usual morning rush and then a quiet period in the afternoon when it’s too hot to be outside. Then it picks up again in the evening. We don't have a fancy layout. It's just shelves and racks filled with whatever we can get our hands on that people might want. It’s a bit messy sometimes but that’s because we have so much stuff to sell. We try to be helpful and honest with everyone who walks in. It’s a good way to make a living in this ancient city.
