Ram Das Stores

If you have ever been to Godowlia in Varanasi, you know how crowded it gets every single day. Our shop, Ram Das Stores, is right in the middle of all that noise on Godowlia Road. It is not a very big place, but we have been here for a long time. My father used to sit here before me, and now I handle most of the things myself. We sell daily items like dal, rice, sugar, and some snacks too. The pilgrims walking towards the temple often stop by to ask for directions or just to buy a bottle of water. Varanasi is a city that never really sleeps, especially around our area. The rickshaws are always honking outside. We have a lot of regular customers who live in the narrow lanes behind the main road. They come in to chat about the local news while they wait for their groceries to be packed up. We use old scales for some things and a small calculator for the rest. It is not a fancy supermarket where you pick things yourself. You tell me what you need and I get it from the shelf. Sometimes it takes a minute if the shop is full of people. I try to keep the prices fair because we know everyone in the neighborhood. It is a busy life here in Godowlia but it is our home and our business.
