New Aadarsh Genral Store

New Aadarsh Genral Store is located on the road that goes from DLW to BHU, specifically near the Hanuman Mandir in Nariya, Varanasi. This is a very busy road with students from the university and people going to the temple. We get a lot of foot traffic because of the location. The shop is small and can get quite warm in the Varanasi summers. We sell a lot of stationery and notebooks because of the students, along with the regular general store items like snacks and toiletries. The Hanuman Mandir nearby means there are many devotees passing by, especially on Tuesdays. They often stop for a quick bottle of water or some snacks. I’ve been running this place for a few years now. It’s not a fancy store by any means. The paint on the walls is a bit faded and the shelves are made of simple wood. We don’t have any marketing or big banners. People just see the sign and walk in. I spend most of my day sitting behind the counter, talking to the regulars and watching the traffic go by on the DLW road. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just use a torch or a small battery light until it comes back. It’s just how things are here. We keep the essentials in stock and try to be helpful to whoever walks through the door. It’s a simple business for a simple neighborhood in a very old city. We wait for the evening breeze.
