Mahesh Silks

Mahesh Silks is located at D61/36 A - R-1 in Siddhgiri Bagh. It is a bit of a quiet area, tucked away from all the main market noise. We deal with silk sarees and rolls of fabric for suits. The shop is just a big room filled with the smell of silk and old wood. My father started this many years ago, and I have been working here since I was a young man. We do not have big glass windows or bright spotlights. Instead, we have wooden shelves and we spread a white sheet on the floor for people to sit on while they look at the fabrics. It is more comfortable for everyone that way. The ceiling fans make a bit of a clicking sound but we are used to it. We have a lot of regular customers who know exactly where to find us in these narrow lanes. It can be a bit hard to find the first time you come here. Every morning we spend time folding the fabrics that were taken out the day before. It is a slow process to keep it all neat. We use mothballs to make sure the silk stays in good condition while it is on the shelf. We close the shop for a couple of hours in the afternoon to go home for lunch. Then we come back and stay until the evening.
