Modanwal General Stores

Modanwal General Stores has been a part of the Shivala area in Varanasi for a long time. Our address is on Gudhulia Road, which is one of the busiest streets in this part of the city. We are near Sonarpura and Faridpura, right in the middle of all the action. The shop is small and filled with all sorts of things like spices, grains, and household items. Because we are in such an old part of Varanasi, the building itself has a lot of character, though the walls could probably use a new coat of paint. It is always noisy outside with the sound of rickshaws, motorbikes, and people walking toward the ghats. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. Everything is kept in glass jars or stacked in bags on the floor. It is a family-run business, and we have been serving the local residents for generations. We don't have a website or any social media. If someone needs something, they just walk in and ask. Sometimes it gets very hot in the summer, and we just sit near the front to catch whatever breeze comes off the street. We know our customers well and often know what they want before they even ask for it. It is just a regular shop doing its part in a very old and busy city. We take things one day at a time without any big corporate goals.
