Maa Vaishno Gen. Stores

Our general store is tucked away in Kirhia, within the Khojwa Bazar area of Varanasi. Being in Varanasi, specifically at the 221003 pincode, means we are in a place with a lot of history and very narrow streets. Khojwa Bazar is always lively, and our shop is right in the middle of that local energy. We sell all the usual things, like snacks, soap, household cleaners, and basic kitchen supplies. The shop is named Maa Vaishno, and we keep a small picture of the deity near the entrance. It’s a small space, so we have to use every inch of the walls to hang packets and stack containers. On hot days, the market can feel a bit cramped, but that’s just how it is here. We open up in the morning after a quick cleaning of the front step. Customers are usually local residents who have lived in Khojwa for generations. We don't have big advertisements or a website. Most people just know we are here because they pass us every day. Sometimes we sit on the stools outside when it’s quiet, watching the cows and cycles go by. It’s a very simple life running a general store in this part of Varanasi. We just try to have what people need so they don’t have to walk too far. It’s an old-fashioned way of doing things, but it works for us.
