Krishna Merchant

Krishna Merchant is located at Shop No-1 on the Bhojubeer Road here in Varanasi. We are right by the Hotel Kamal Gange, so we see a lot of travelers as well as the locals who live around here. I have been running this place for a good while now. It is a simple setup with wooden counters and shelves that go all the way to the back. I sell mostly bulk goods and some packaged items. People come here for their monthly supplies of rice and tea. The road outside is usually crowded with rickshaws and motorbikes, so it stays pretty loud throughout the day. I usually have tea with the neighbor who runs the tea stall next door when there are no customers. My son helps me with the heavy lifting because the sacks of sugar are getting a bit too much for me to handle alone. We don't have any fancy posters or neon signs. Just the name of the shop painted on the front. I spend my time weighing things out on the old scale and chatting with the regulars about what is happening in the city. Varanasi is a place that never sleeps, and my shop feels like a small part of that energy. I try to keep things fair and simple. As long as the shelves are stocked and the regulars are happy, I am satisfied.
