Kedarnath Provision & General Store

Our shop is right in the heart of Madanpura in Varanasi, specifically on Shivala Road. If you know where the Hanuman Mandir is, you basically know where we are because we are quite close to it. Being in Varanasi, the lanes are often crowded and narrow, and our store is no different. It’s a Kedarnath Provision & General Store, and we’ve been here long enough that we know almost every face that walks through the door. The building is old, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but the shelves are always full. We stock things like lentils, rice, spices, and all the usual household items people need for their kitchens. In the mornings, the bells from the temple nearby remind us it’s time to open up. The air is often thick with incense from the street and the smell of cooking from the houses upstairs. It’s a busy life, especially during festival seasons when everyone is looking for specific ingredients for their sweets or rituals. We don't really do things the modern way; we still use a manual scale sometimes and keep our accounts in paper books. It’s a bit messy at times with boxes piled up in the corners, but it works for us. We just stay here all day, chatting with neighbors and making sure we have enough stock for the next person who walks in from the heat of the Shivala area.
