Institute Of Technology

We are part of the Banaras Hindu University campus in Varanasi. This is a very old and famous place, but our daily life is quite simple. The buildings here are made of heavy stone and have high ceilings, which helps with the Varanasi heat. There are trees everywhere on the campus, so there's always a bit of shade when you're walking between the different departments. The Institute of Technology is just one part of this massive university. Students come from all over the country, so you hear many different languages in the corridors. The labs are filled with old machinery and some newer pieces too, and there's always the smell of oil or chemicals in some of the halls. We don't have a corporate feel here at all; it's more of a traditional academic environment where things happen at their own pace. The benches in the lecture halls are made of wood and have been used by many generations before the current students. There are a lot of bicycles parked outside every building. It's a busy place with people always hurrying to their next class or sitting under a tree to talk. We just provide the space and the equipment for the students to do their work. It’s a huge campus, but it feels like its own little world. It takes a lot of time to get from one end to the other, so we stay put.
