Inaya Saree Centre

Our shop, Inaya Saree Centre, is located at No. J 23/43 in Kamalpura. It’s tucked away in Baribazar, specifically in the Meenar Masjid Wali Gali. If you find the Zee Medical store, you are pretty much there. It’s a narrow lane, so it stays a bit cooler than the main road, but it can be a squeeze when people are passing each other. We have a lot of sarees squeezed into a relatively small area. The walls are covered in shelves, and sometimes we have to use a ladder to reach the stuff at the top. The lane is usually full of the sounds of the neighborhood, children playing or people heading to the mosque. We keep the shop open late most days because that’s when people tend to do their shopping in Kamalpura. We don't have a big sign out front, just the one over the door. The floor is usually covered with some fabric scraps by evening. We spend our time checking the inventory and making sure the colors haven't faded from the sun that hits the front window. It’s a very local spot. Most of our visitors live just a few streets away. We don't use fancy computers for everything; a lot of it is still written down in the big ledger we keep on the shelf. It’s just how we have always done things here in the Gali.
