G. N. Bros Sarees Pvt. Ltd.

Our place is at K 37/38 in the G. N. Buildings. It’s located in the Golghar area, which is right near the Gopal Mandir temple. Being so close to the temple means we hear the bells ringing at different times of the day, which is actually quite nice. G. N. Bros Sarees Pvt. Ltd. is a family business, and we’ve been working out of this building for a long time. The stairs leading up to our section are a bit narrow and the lightbulbs in the hallway are always burning out. Inside, the shop is full of sarees in every color you can think of. We spend a lot of our time unfolding them for people to see and then folding them back up neatly, which takes a lot of practice. The floors are covered with white sheets so the fabric stays clean when we lay it out. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. Most of our customers are people who have been coming to us for decades. Sometimes their daughters and granddaughters come in too. It gets very busy during the wedding season, and we usually have to bring in extra help just to manage the crowd. We have a small desk where we keep the ledger and a calculator that is missing a few buttons. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than three people are in the shop, but we make it work. It's just how things are.
