Fashion Silk House

Fashion Silk House is found at J-14/90 in Qazi Sadullah Pura, which is part of the Bari Bazar area. This is an old part of the city where the lanes are narrow and the buildings are tall. We have a lot of silk here, hence the name. The silk comes in all sorts of weights and colors, and we keep them stacked in big wooden cupboards that reach almost to the ceiling. Bari Bazar is always a bit of a marathon to get through because of all the people and the carts moving goods around. Our shop is a bit of a refuge from that chaos, even though it is small. We don't really have a lot of space for people to lounge around. It is more of a place where you come to look at the fabric, pick what you want, and go. We deal with a lot of wholesalers but we also have regular people coming in for just a few meters of silk. The lighting inside isn't great, so we use some old tube lights that flick a bit sometimes. It’s a very traditional way of doing business. We don't use computers much, mostly just a handwritten ledger for our accounts. It might seem a bit behind the times to some people, but it works for us and our customers know what to expect. We just try to keep enough stock so that no one leaves disappointed. It’s a quiet, busy life here in Qazi Sadullah Pura.
