Akbar Creation

Our workshop is tucked away at J 9/78 in the Oripura area of Nagkuan, right in Jaitpura. It’s a place where we spend most of our waking hours. The sound of sewing machines is constant here at Akbar Creation. We have about four or five machines lined up along the wall, and there’s always thread and bits of fabric on the floor. It’s not a showroom, just a place where we make things. The lighting isn't the best, so we use these bright table lamps to see the stitches. We get a lot of orders from local sellers who want specific designs made. Sometimes the neighbors’ kids come in and run around, which can be a bit distracting when you’re trying to finish a sleeve or a collar. We don't have a fancy office; we just use a small corner of the room with a plastic table for the accounts. The walls are bare except for a few calendars from last year. We work long hours, especially when there’s a big deadline. We drink a lot of water because it gets stuffy with all the fabric dust in the air. We don't really do any marketing; people just know we are here in Nagkuan and they bring their work to us. It’s a simple life of cutting and stitching, and we’ve been doing it this way for as long as I can remember.
