Working at Plot No 25/26/27 in the Primear Ind Estate means you see a lot of the same faces every morning. Mecleods Pharmaceutical Limited takes up a good chunk of space here in Kachigam. It’s mostly just rows of shelves and equipment. We don’t have any of those fancy modern lounges you see in magazines. It’s a practical place built for work. The industrial estate is always noisy with the sound of engines and people shouting over the wind. We spend a lot of time checking batches and making sure the storage temperature is right. If a machine breaks, someone has to fix it right then, or we fall behind. Kachigam isn't exactly a vacation spot, even if Daman is nearby. It’s where the real work happens. We have a lot of people coming in for different shifts. Sometimes the office gets dusty because of all the construction going on nearby. We just wipe down the desks and keep going. It's funny how you get used to the rhythm of a factory. You know exactly what time it is by which truck is pulling into the gate. We keep our heads down and focus on the tasks at hand. There isn't much time for standing around talking. When the day is over, we’re all pretty tired but it’s a good kind of tired. That’s just how it is here. Most days are long but we get the job done.
