Swaraj Engineering Works

Our spot is over at 165-b-7 in Phase-2, and it’s usually pretty loud inside once the machines start running in the morning. We do engineering work, mostly fixing things or making small parts that people need for their setups. It’s not a large place, just enough room for the equipment and a couple of stools for when we need to sit down and check a drawing. The light isn't great in the back corner, so we moved a couple of lamps over there last week. You get used to the smell of oil and cut metal after a few days. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, and we just sit outside on the steps until it comes back on. That's when we talk to the guys from the next unit over. We’ve been in this specific unit for a while. It’s got a heavy metal door that sticks a bit in the monsoon. We don't really do much advertising or anything like that. Most folks just hear about us from someone else in the industrial estate. It’s basic work, nothing too complicated, but it needs to be done right or the parts won’t fit. I usually wear my old blue shirt because the new ones get ruined in an hour. We stay until the last job is finished, which sometimes means missing the bus home.
