Middle School Nagwan

Middle School Nagwan is situated right in the middle of Nagwan here in Muzaffarpur. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows everyone else’s name. We’ve got the local kids coming in from the nearby houses every morning, some walking and some on bicycles. The school building has been around for a while and shows its age in some spots, but it works fine for what we need. Most mornings are spent going through the usual subjects like Hindi, math, and social studies. It’s not always easy keeping thirty kids in a room quiet, especially when it’s nice outside, but we do what we can. The teachers here have a lot of patience. A routine is something we stick to, starting with the morning assembly out front. After that, it’s straight to the books until the lunch break. You’ll see the kids sitting under the trees when it's hot, just trying to catch a bit of a breeze. We don't have a lot of high-tech stuff, just chalkboards and textbooks. Sometimes the rain makes the yard a bit muddy, which the kids seem to enjoy more than we do. It’s a very grounded sort of place. Our goal is just for the students to get their education so they can do something good later on. It’s hard work for the staff and the students alike, but we just keep showing up every day and getting on with it. We hope they learn something useful before the day ends.
