Shree Ram Farsan Mart

You can find Shree Ram Farsan Mart over in Manjalpur at S K Bole Road 4. It is a corner-type shop where we do all our cooking and selling. We have been here for a while, and the neighborhood knows us. Every morning starts with the same routine of lighting the stoves and getting the oil hot. We make things like bhusu, sev, and different types of fried snacks. The bags are stacked up on the counter ready for the evening rush. Manjalpur is a residential area, so we get a lot of families. Sometimes the kids come in after school for a small packet of something. We have a few chairs but they are mostly for us to sit on when there are no customers. The walls are lined with glass jars where we keep some of the drier items. We use a lot of big metal spoons and ladles. It is a lot of physical work, lifting heavy containers and staying on our feet. The smell of the spices can be quite strong, but we are used to it by now. The street noise from S K Bole Road is always there in the background. We don't have a computer system; we just write things down or remember them. It is a simple life and a simple business. We just want to get the snacks made and sold before the day ends.
