Shree Jagdish Farsan Mart

We are located at Magan Cottage, right across from the main gate of Jubilee Baug in Asoj. It is a good spot because people coming out of the park are often looking for something to eat. We make all kinds of farsan here. The kitchen is in the back, and that is where we spend most of our hours. We fry things in big batches. You can hear the sizzling sound from the street. We have to move fast so nothing burns. The bags of flour and lentils are stacked up against the wall because we go through them pretty quickly. We put everything in glass cases at the front so people can see what is fresh. The cottage is an old building, so it has some character, even if the walls are a bit stained from the smoke. We start very early, way before the sun is up, to get the first snacks ready for the morning crowd. It is sweaty work, especially in the summer. We don't use fancy packaging, just simple plastic bags and paper. Some days are busier than others, especially on weekends when the baug is full of families. We don't have a lot of help, so it is just a couple of us doing everything from the cooking to the cleaning. We just try to keep the jars full and the oil fresh. It is just a regular snack shop.
