Shiv Dresses

Raopura is always a mess of people, but that’s what makes it great. Shiv Dresses is on the first floor of Krishna Market. We are right across from Ahmedabadi Pole. You have to walk up the stairs, which can be a bit narrow if someone is coming down with a big bag. Once you get up here, it’s a whole different world. We have racks of clothes and pieces of fabric everywhere. It’s a busy little shop. We spend a lot of time helping people find the right size or talking about what colors look good together. Since we are on the first floor, we get to look down at the street and see all the chaos below. It’s a good spot. Krishna Market has been around for a long time, and you can feel it in the walls. The floorboards sometimes creak a bit. We don’t have fancy lighting, just enough to see what we are sewing. It’s a bit cluttered, but we know where everything is. The guys from the other stalls often drop in for a chat or to borrow a measuring tape. It’s that kind of atmosphere. We stay open late most nights because that’s when the market really picks up. It’s a lot of work, but being in the heart of Raopura feels right for a dress shop like ours.
