Sheetal Beauty Parlour

Up on the first floor of Shivalay Complex, that’s where Sheetal Beauty Parlour is. We are at shop number 4 on Vasna Road. If you look across the street, you’ll see the Raneshwar Mahadev Temple. Sometimes you can hear the bells from the temple when they have prayers. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit steep, so some of the older ladies take their time coming up. We have a small sign outside so people don't miss us. Inside, it’s mostly just two rooms. One is for the hair stuff and the other is for more private things like waxing. The curtains are a bit mismatched, but they do the job. I’ve been working here for a few years now. It isn't a place where you'll see people in uniforms. I usually just wear my regular clothes. We drink a lot of chai during the day, especially when it’s raining outside and things are slow. The mirror in the main room has a small crack in the bottom corner, but it doesn't get in the way of seeing your face. We know most of our customers by their first names. We know whose daughter is getting married and whose son is moving away. It feels more like a small community than a business. We don't do anything too fancy, just the regular stuff people need to look decent. We keep the place clean and sweep every evening before locking up.
