Running P. L. Overseas (P) Ltd. out of Shankar Parvati Chember on Sant Kabir Road is a lot of daily work. We’ve been here for a good while now. The building is one of those older ones where everyone knows everyone else. Our office is usually full of papers and people talking at once. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, so the ceiling fans are always going full speed. We handle a lot of different things throughout the day. It’s mostly about keeping track of where everything is going and making sure the paperwork is done. We aren’t a huge corporation with thousands of employees. We are just a small team working out of this chamber. Sant Kabir Road is always busy, especially in the mornings when everyone is heading to work. Parking is a bit of a nightmare if you arrive even ten minutes late. Most of our day is spent on the phone or typing stuff into the computer. We get our tea from the stall downstairs twice a day. It’s the best part of the afternoon for us. We don’t have a big reception area or anything. You just walk in and we’re right there at our desks. Sometimes we lose track of time because there is so much to organize. It’s a bit messy sometimes, but we know exactly where everything is. That’s just how it goes when you’ve been in the same spot for so many years.
