Engineering Technique

Down at Plot No. 173 in the Gidc Ind. Estate, you’ll find our little engineering setup. It’s not much to look at from the outside, just another gate in a long row of gates. Inside, though, we’ve got our tools and our benches all laid out how we like them. We do engineering work, which basically means we fix things or make parts that other people need for their machines to work. It involves a lot of measuring and then measuring again just to be sure. We don’t have a fancy office with air conditioning or nice chairs. We just have a few fans that move the hot air around during the summer. We eat our lunch together near the back door where there’s a bit of a breeze if we are lucky. We’ve been here for a while and have seen many neighbors come and go. We just stay focused on the work at hand. We don’t go in for big marketing speeches or colorful websites. If the part works, people usually come back. If it doesn't, we make it right. That’s the only way we know how to run a shop. It’s hard work, and our hands are usually dirty with oil, but it feels good at the end of the day.
