Alankar Udyog

If you come down to Plot No. 854-1 in the GIDC Industrial Estate, you’ll find Alankar Udyog. It’s a humble place. We’ve been operating from this same spot for quite some time now. There’s no big glass front or air-conditioned lobby. It’s just a workshop where we put in the hours. Most of us here have grease under our fingernails by noon. We don’t really do fancy presentations. If a customer needs something, we show them what we’re working on right there on the floor. The machinery is reliable but it needs constant looking after. We spend a lot of time on maintenance so nothing breaks down mid-job. The weather gets really hot inside the shed during May, but we keep the fans going. It’s a loud environment with the sound of metal hitting metal. We buy our tea from the stall at the corner of the estate. Everyone knows us there. We aren't trying to change the world. We just want to make good parts and keep our customers coming back. Sometimes we make mistakes, but we fix them right away. That’s how you learn. The GIDC is a busy place, always trucks moving in and out. We fit right into the middle of it. It’s honest work and it keeps the lights on at home. We just try to stay busy and keep the machines humming along as they should for every order.
