Maa Kalima Provision Store

You can find Maa Kalima Provision Store on Gotri Road, just a short walk from the Civil Hospital. We get a lot of families coming in who are visiting patients, so we keep a good stock of things like biscuits, fruit juices, and basic medicines. It’s a humble little shop. I named it after the deity for good luck when we first opened years ago. The Gotri area has changed a lot, with more buildings and traffic going up, but our store stays pretty much the same. I start the day by lighting some incense and sweeping the front step to keep it tidy. The hospital nearby means there is always a sense of hurry around here. People are often in a rush, so I try to get their change ready quickly. We have those big plastic jars on the counter filled with chocolates and snacks for the kids. The shelves are a bit cramped, and sometimes I struggle to find a place for new items when they arrive. I usually have a cup of tea in the late afternoon when the sun starts to go down. It’s not a fancy supermarket, just a place where you can get your daily flour, dhal, and oil without much fuss. We know the neighbors by name and we know what they usually buy before they even ask for it. It’s just a normal part of the Vadodara community and we plan to stay here.
