Krishana Family Salon

Down here at Nilex Complex on Harni Road, things get pretty busy. We are right on the ground floor at shop number three. It is easy to find because we are opposite the Police Colony. Being a family salon means we see everyone. Dads come in with their sons on Sundays, and it gets loud. Harni Road is always moving. You can hear the horns and the people outside while we work. The shop isn't huge, but we made room for everyone to sit. We’ve been in this part of Vadodara for some time. The walls have some posters, and the mirrors have seen a lot of faces. Sometimes we run out of tea because so many neighbors stop by to chat. It’s not a corporate place with uniforms. We wear what’s comfortable and just get on with the day. When the power goes out, we just open the door for more light. We handle hair for the kids who squirm in the chair and the older men who want the same style they’ve had for twenty years. Life around here 390006 is fast, but inside the shop, we take our time. Every morning I unlock the gate and sweep the front. The Nilex Complex is a familiar place for folks living nearby. We just do the work, clean the combs, and wait for the next person to walk through the door. Krishana Family Salon is just part of the neighborhood.
