Khan Motors

Down on Raopura Main Road, you can see Khan Motors at G-27. It is a place where there is always some work happening. There is usually a car or two parked out front with the hoods up. The ground has its share of oil spots and tire marks, which is normal for a garage. We have been here for a long time. The main road is very busy, so there is a constant stream of traffic noise. Inside the shop, it’s mostly the sound of wrenches hitting metal and the air compressor kicking in. We keep our tools on big metal racks against the walls. They aren't new, but they work just fine. We don't have a waiting room with a television or anything like that. People usually just drop their cars off and come back later. We spend a lot of time with grease on our hands. It’s hard work, especially when the weather is hot and the engines are even hotter. We know many of the drivers who pass through Raopura. They stop by when something starts making a strange noise. We just take a look and tell them what needs to be fixed. There’s no big corporate office behind us. It’s just the shop and the tools. We close up when the sun goes down and the traffic starts to thin out a bit. It is just us fixing engines.
