Joshi Kanu Vishnuprasad

This is Kanu Vishnuprasad Joshi. You can find me at 44 Fatehgunj. My place is very close to the Convent School. You can hear the school bell ringing throughout the day, which helps me keep track of time without even looking at my watch. The building is a two-story structure and I am on the ground floor. It’s a convenient spot because the school makes it easy for people to find me. "Just look for the school," I tell them when they call for directions. The room I work in is quite old. The floor has those old-fashioned patterned tiles that you don't see much in the newer buildings. I have a large window that lets in a lot of dust from the street, so I have to wipe down my desk every single morning before I start. There are always people walking past—parents picking up kids or students heading to the local cafes for lunch. Fatehgunj is a lively area, and being at number 44 puts me right in the middle of all the action. I keep a stack of newspapers on the side table for anyone who has to wait for a few minutes. My chair is a bit squeaky, and I’ve been meaning to oil it for months, but I never seem to get around to it. It’s a comfortable place to spend the day. I’ve known most of the people on this street for twenty years. It’s just a regular office.
