J K Scrap Store is located out in Gorwa, right near Palanpur Patia. It is not the cleanest business in the world, but it is what we do for a living. We take in all sorts of stuff like old metal, plastic, newspapers, and sometimes old machinery that nobody wants anymore. Everything gets weighed on the big scale we have out front. We spend most of the day sorting things into different piles so they can be sent off to the bigger processing plants. It is heavy work and we get pretty dirty by the time we finish the shift. The yard is usually full of stacks of iron and bags of plastic bottles. We have been here for a long time, so most of the local scrap collectors know to bring their stuff to us. We do not have a fancy office with air conditioning, just a small cabin where we keep the books and handle the cash. It gets loud with the trucks coming in and out, and the sun can be quite harsh in the afternoons. We just keep our heads down and get through the piles of material. Sometimes we find things that are actually still useful, but mostly it is just raw material for recycling. It is a simple trade. You bring the scrap, we weigh it, and we pay based on the daily rates. No big secrets or complicated systems here.
