Gruh Kripa Salon

Gruh Kripa Salon is situated on the Main Road in Tandalja. It's a busy part of Vadodara and we’ve been here for some time now. The shop is small and sometimes feels a bit cramped when three or four people are waiting. We have the usual salon chairs and a bench for the customers. Tandalja is a lively place to work. There’s always someone shouting outside or a rickshaw honking. Inside we just focus on the hair. We do cuts and some styling for the local men and boys. We have a small television in the corner but the signal is usually fuzzy so we mostly just listen to the radio. I like to keep the floor swept but sometimes I get behind when the shop is full. We don't use any fancy lotions or expensive perfumes. It’s all very basic here. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint but for now they are okay. People come here because it’s convenient and we know how they like their hair done. We don't do appointments much. You just come in, sit down, and we get to you. It’s a very local vibe. We know who is getting married and who is looking for a job. It’s more like a meeting place than just a shop sometimes. The street light outside flickers at night but we are usually closed by then anyway. I keep a stack of old newspapers on the bench for people to read.
