Gayatri Tailoring Class

I run this tailoring class out of unit number 1 in the Indraprasth Shopping Centre. It’s on Tarsali Road. It’s a small shop but it fits a few sewing machines and a large cutting table in the middle. I’ve been sewing for years and decided to start showing others how to do it. The shopping centre is usually busy with people doing their daily errands. You can hear the hum of the machines from the hallway. There are scraps of fabric and threads all over the floor by the end of the day. I try to sweep it up, but it just piles up again the next morning. People come here to learn how to make their own clothes or just to do basic alterations. I sit with them and show them how to thread the needle and follow a pattern. It’s not a fancy school. We use old-fashioned machines mostly because they are sturdy and easy to fix. The lighting isn't the best in the back corner, so we try to do the detailed work near the front window. I usually have a measuring tape around my neck all day. It’s a very practical place. Neighbors from Tarsali Road often stop by just to chat for a bit. We don't have any big brochures or anything. People just see the sign or hear about us from their friends. It's just a small corner where we sew.
