This part of Vadodara has changed a lot over the years. There are so many more cars now. Our parlour is a small unit on the first floor. It is a bit tucked away, but once you find it, it is a nice spot. I have been here for several years now. Most of the people who come in are from the nearby offices or the houses in Subhanpura. They usually come in the evenings after they finish their work. We stay open late sometimes if there is a big wedding in the neighborhood. I don't really have a big staff, just one girl who helps with the cleaning and the smaller jobs. We use basic products that everyone is familiar with. There is no need for anything too complicated. The room has a window that looks out onto the main road, so I watch the traffic while I wait for the next person to arrive. The floor gets covered in hair pretty quickly, so we are always sweeping. It is a simple life, but I enjoy the conversations I have with the ladies. We talk about everything under the sun while I do their nails or hair.
