Bata India Shoes

This shop is over at Mayur, right across from the Amadavadi Pole in Vadodara. It’s in an older part of the city where the streets are narrow and there is always people walking by. Inside, we have rows and rows of shelves filled with boxes. We spend a good part of the day pulling shoes out for people to try on and then putting them back when they don't fit. The floor is a bit worn down from all the foot traffic over the years. We have a few mirrors bolted to the walls and those little stools that people sit on to lace up their shoes. It can get pretty crowded on festivals or when the school season starts. We don't have a big fancy storefront, just the glass windows where we put a few of the newer styles. The light inside is a bit yellow, but you can see the products clearly enough. It’s a lot of standing around and helping customers find the right size. Sometimes the fans overhead make a bit of a clicking sound, but we don't mind it. Outside, the Amadavadi Pole area is always buzzing with activity, so there is never a dull moment. We just keep the shelves stocked and the door open for whoever needs a new pair of sandals or boots. It’s a basic retail life here and we stay busy with the local crowd day after day.
