Bajaj Traders is right in the thick of things on Tilak Road. Our spot is at the Mangal Bazar near the Bajwada Naka. If you know the area, you know how crowded it gets, especially on the days when the market is in full swing. There are stalls everywhere and people pushing past each other to find a bargain. The shop is tucked into that busy stretch where the noise never really stops. We spend most of the morning moving crates and making sure everything is where it should be on the shelves. The walls are a bit faded, and the floor has seen better days, but it’s a solid place to do business. We’ve been at Bajwada Naka for a long time, so we’ve seen the shops around us change owners over and over again. The air is thick with the smell of the market—spices, old paper, and whatever the street vendors are cooking nearby. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find fancy air conditioning or quiet waiting rooms. You just step in off the street, find what you need, and talk to whoever is behind the counter that day. We usually have a radio playing somewhere in the back, mostly for the news or some music to pass the time. When evening comes and the lights of Mangal Bazar flicker on, we start packing things up and getting ready for the next morning. It’s a lot of hard work, but it is what we know.
