We are over in Dilwan village, run out of Balbir Chand’s place near the Diara post office. It is a rural setup because that is where the work is. This company was formed by local farmers who realized that working alone wasn't getting us very far in the market. We deal with all sorts of agricultural stuff, from buying seeds to figuring out where to sell what we grow. Dilwan is a quiet place, and most of our members live just a short walk away from the office. We spend a lot of time sitting around talking about the soil and which crops are struggling with the pests. It’s not a fancy business with suits and ties. Most of us have dirt under our fingernails and we prefer it that way. We try to help each other out with equipment or getting better deals on supplies. Sometimes the paperwork gets a bit much for us, but we manage to get it done. It is about making sure the village economy stays moving. When the harvest comes in, things get really hectic around here. There is a lot of lifting, loading, and making sure everyone gets their fair share of the profits. We don't pretend to be anything we aren't. We are just a group of people from the village trying to make farming a bit more sustainable for our families. It takes a lot of patience, especially when the rains don't come when expected.
